I flew to New York for the tournament on the 2nd Nov which was my birthday. I arrived at 1pm and decided to be adventurous and get the bus to Manhattan and then navigate the subway to Brooklyn. It took a while but I arrived just before 6pm. Latasha, Dom and Tan had said we should go for dinner which was great. We went for Thai and had a great night considering I'd spent most of my birthday at 36000ft.

I had a couple of days before the 1st round. I practised and decided to go shopping on Tuesday. Got some nice things and made a start on my Christmas shopping. Wednesday I practised twice and then watched some qualifying matches. I got drawn against Joshna Chinappa for the 1st round on Thursday.

Thursday.....practised and went for lunch. Latasha and I who were sharing at the Dietz's house watched abit of Harry Potter before going down to the club to play my match.

I was on 2nd against Joshna and made a good start. She didn't seem that interested in the start and I won 11-2. The 2nd she started to play abit better and we went all the way up together until about 7-7 and I pulled away and won 11-8. The 3rd was the toughest. I came back from a couple of points a drift and managed to sneak it 15-13. Glad to be off 3-0 and looking forward to another match with Alison.

The next day was similar. More Harry Potter and then down to the courts. I didn't make a great start against Alison. I felt quite flat to start and lost the 1st game easily 11-5. The next was better. I tried to relax and enjoy the match and managed to sneak the game 13-11. In the 3rd it was close. We both played well but Alison just nicked it 11-9. The 3rd I played well and played how I wanted to. I won the 4th 11-7. The 5th was close the whole way and we both played well. Alison was 10-9 match ball up and played a great rally to win it 11-9. I was disappointed but I played ok. Got a couple of days shopping and training before I fly home.
