Vassar College - Class 0f 1932

This is a great tournament run by Jane Parker from the 10th-13th April in Poughkeepsie, New York.

With both the weather and the nearly finished refurbishment of Kenyon Hall within Vassar College looking great, the tournament this year was the best yet!!!

I arrived in New York from Texas the day before I played my first round match. I had a qualifier and so found out I was playing fellow English girl Sarah Kippax ranked 36 in the world that night. I won 3-1 - 4/9, 9/5, 9/6, 9/2.

The following day I played Rebecca Chui from Hong Kong ranked 18 in the world. I won 3-0 - 9/5, 10/8, 9/4 and was pleased to reach my seeded position.

In the semi final I played Shelley Kitchen from New Zealand ranked just 1 place below me in the rankings at 13 in the world. Unfortunately I lost 3-1 - 9/1, 9/3, 2/9, 9/3.

I really enjoyed my time in New York and although I lost in the semi-final I bettered my performance from last year of losing in the quarter-finals.
