World Open

Having come to Belfast straight from winning my second WISPA title in Wolverhampton I was feeling pretty good. I arrived on Tuesday afternoon and was due to play my first round match against a qualifier on Wednesday. I went to the club and had a light hit with Alison Waters and then stayed to watch the qualifying matches. I drew Tenille Swartz. A young up and coming South African who beat Latasha Khan of America 3-2 in the last round of qualification.

I got up Wednesday morning and went down to the club for a hit with Vicky (Botwright). I then went back to the hotel because my match was scheduled to be on last at 9pm. I chilled out in the room all day, got lunch and then went back to the club at 6.30pm. I prepared well and felt good for my match. I went on court early at about 8.15pm. I played really well and I think Tenille looked alittle jaded from her qualifying matches. I won 9-0, 9-2, 9-1 in 22mins and was really pleased.

The next day I got up and although I was playing alittle earlier I still had time to kill. I practised and back to the room. I was playing Nicolette Fernandes who had a great result the day before beating Jenny Duncalf 3-0. I went down for my match and made a great start winning the first game 9-0. The next two were 3 and 2 but the scoreline didn't reflect the length of the game which was 42mins. The match was hard because on paper I was supposed to be playing Jenny and seeded not to win so in my mind a non-pressure match. With Nicolette winning I had pressure all of a sudden to win the match so I was pleased to come through it because I know how well Nicolette has been playing.

So Friday... quarter finals day. Really pleased to be in my first World Open Quarter Final. I'm played Rachel Grinham and was looking forward to it. I played well last time and so thought I could do well. I was feeling good but when we went on court Rachel was playing well. The glass suits her game and I struggled to read her drops. She played really well and I didn't play as well as I would have liked. I lost 3-0 2, 3, 6.

Pleased with how my last 2 comps have gone and looking forward to the next!!!
