BSPA Artemis Edinburgh Open.
After driving up from home to Edinburgh Friday morning I played my 1st match Friday night against Brigit Coufal from Austria. It was the first time that WISPA have tested American scoring. This means we were playing like the men which is point per ralley to 11.
I managed to win 3-0. I played well and I think Brigit struggled with the pace of the game. I was pleased to get off court fairly fast.
Saturday morning I played Emma Chorley and good up and coming player just out the juniors I think. She had beaten Rachel Willmot the day before 3-0. She took me by surprise in the first game and played well. I managed to win that game but It was tight. Then I tried to step the pace up and won the next two comftable. I was impressed with her though and thought she put in alot of effort.
Saturday afternoon. I was playing Sarah Kippax. I was unsure of how the match would go with it being point a ralley but tried to stick with my normal game. I won 3-0 again. I didn't play well but I don't think she did either. It was quite scrappy but I managed to make less errors than Sarah. I was glad to be off 3-0 and through to the final.
Sunday.
After a light hit in the morning I prepared for my match against Madeline Perry in the final. She's ranked 8 in the world but I fancied my chances. I didn't play well through the match. I wasn't taking the ball in short very often. However, I somehow managed to go 2-1 up and matchball up. This is where I learn from playing American scoring. I should have taken the matchball by playing postive but instead I stuck in the ralley and it wasn't enough. Before I knew it she was level. I ended up losing that game and then lost the 5th. I was really disappointed about my performance more than anything.
Hopefully i'll be back next year. I will win that title one day!!!!
