British Open.
After winning Wolverhampton last weekend it seemed a quick turn around to get myself prepared for the British Open and facing world champion and world number 1 Nicol David in the first round.Friday evening came round and I warmed up and prepared well for my match against Nicol. We went on court at 8pm. The first game was hard work. It was 3-3 and I was playing well. I pulled away to 5-3 but it took alot out of me and the pace was high. When she pushed to go I couldn't go with her. The pace was high and although the game wasn't quick I lost that game 9-5. In the 2nd I tried to up the pace abit. I went 6-2 up and was playing well but after 3 hard rallies I was struggling. She was very fast, quick and steady. I didn't stay with the pace well and lost that game 9-6. The 3rd wasn't much better. I went 6-0 down and tried to relax and get a few points in the end. I did that but eventually lost the game 9-4.
The match was over 40mins and overall I was happy with my performance. I have lots of things to work on and get better at. I'm looking forward to playing Nicol again after getting vital experience playing her in Manchester.
Training now for 4 weeks until the World Open in Madrid.
