Hong Kong
I arrived in Hong Kong straight from Qatar. The time difference is 5 hours and so it took a few days of practicing and adjusting before I played my first round match against Raneem El Weleily who is world junior champion and a very talented young player.I played my 1st round match on the 7th. Raneem is a good shot player but can hit the tin alot if put under pressure. I tried to keep getting the ball back and keep the rallies long. Eventually she hit the tin. However every so often she hit a screaming winner and I just had to except them. Especially at the beginning of the 2nd she was good. Holding me at 3-3 for ages until the errors started to come again. I thought overall I played well and was pleased to win 3-0.
The next day I played Rachael Grinham, current world number 3 but world champion and British Open champion. She's in good form and playing confidently. I played ok. I was hitting good lengths and trying to put the ball short when I had the opportunity. She picks up alot of balls and it sometimes forces the errors. I was in the game in the 1st and 2nd until about mid way through then I lost my way both times and she pulled away with it. In the 3rd I was 7-4 up and then 8-7 up but couldn't manage to convert it into the game. I was disappointed not to nick a game and then see what would have been after that but I'm looking forward to getting home now. It's been a long 3 weeks of tournaments.
