KL Open

I arrived in KL on Saturday afternoon. My 1st round match was on Wednesday. I practised everyday in the lead up to the match. I was feeling good even though I was jetlagged with the 8 hour time difference to England.

Wednesday came around quickly. I practised in the morning and then went back to the hotel for lunch. My match was last on against Shelley Kitchen the world number 7. She has been playing very well and in form at the moment. I was looking forward to the match though as I felt like I was in form as well.

My match against Shelley went on slightly late but I was feeling good. I played ok overall. The first game was close and I just sneaked it in the end 9-7. I felt like i'd eased my way in abit and was feeling good. The second game I stepped back off the pace abit and let Shelley control the middle. I lost that game 9-3. With the games levelled at 1-1 I knew to try and make a big push in the third. I think the third game was my best game. I won the third 9-1 and feeling good in the 4th. I was 6-3 and 7-4 up and just couldn't finish it off in 4 games. I was feeling good and disappointed not to win in 4. I was determined in the fifth not to lose after being 2-1 up. It was tight in the beginning and then I made a big push at 5-4 up and tried to go and get the match. It seemed to pay off and managed to win 9-4 in 69mins.

The next day I was playing Nicol David who beat Sharon Wee the day before 3-0. I was feeling ok after my match with Shelley but knew it would be tough against a fairly fresh Nicol. The match wasn't really that tight and I was disappointed with my performance. I didn't feel it was anywhere near how well I can play. I lost the match 9-4, 9-3, 9-4. Hoping to do better next time.
