Greenwich Open

I arrived in New York on the Monday. Danny was with me and so I was really looking forward to the week in Greenwich. We were staying with the Scott family and always feel very well looked after there.

The first round matches were on Monday. I have been feeling abit ill with a cold and so I didn't do much hitting before the tournament started. My first round match was against a qualifier who was drawn as Lauren Siddall. We hadn't played for a while and she is Playing quite well so I was up for the match. I played well and managed to get off in 3 games.

My next round match was against Tania Bailey. It was a tough quarter final line up as Tania has been world number 4. I played well during the match. I just wanted to play as well as I could. I won in 5 games, it was abit up and down as Tania was abit tired but kept on pushing hard. I was pleased to get the win in the end though 3-2.

My semi final match was against Omneya. Currently ranked number 7. It was always going to be tight. She had a really long match the day before and so I thought I was in with a good chance. I played well and went 2-0 up. Then I think I got abit edgy and she started moving and playing alot better. Before I knew it I was at 2-2. It was really tight in the 5th game. I went 10-8 up and she played 2 amazing rallies to level at 10-10. I had one more match ball at 11-10 and lost it. She played really well but I was disappointed not to be more positive on my matchballs. I finally lost 13-11 in the 5th. I was really gutted but thought I might have an opportunity next week in Cleveland to play her again if we both won.

For the rest of the trip Danny and I had a great day sight seeing in New York before he left and I flew to Cleveland.
